I’ve been snowed in a couple of days this winter and not in the mood to bang around this house with my nail gun. We didn’t get the weather they did up north, but the five or six inches that fell had me staring out the window watching the birds look for shelter. The night sky was breathtaking, and the moon’s halo was large and surreal. I don’t know where crows go at night but now and then I see a lone one in my yard just walking around, like he’s looking for those crackers I leave out for them every morning. He’s just too early. But that was the muse for this painting which is acrylic on a 16 X 20 canvas and one of those Hobby Lobby old weathered wood frames ,which I should be making instead of buying. These watercolors are just practice, and were quick and easy because there’s little color involved. It’s still eight months away but I’m getting excited about my Charles Reid watercolor class next October. It may sound silly, but I need to paint a lot this summer just to feel I’m worthy enough to take his class …to learn to paint better. Where’s the sense in that? I don’t know, but it’s a level three class (whatever that means) and I haven’t a clue what my level is. I guess I’ll find out.
